Lost Cause

Kept away from shining light,
hidding from the gracious fight.
Not everything will be all right,
even when we're past the night.

I scream out towards the waking dawn,
and try to find that which is lost.
Everything I love is gone,
because I failed to pay the cost.
Lost to sight and through the day,
coated in a melting frost.
You have taken all away,
love and pain both are tossed.

You can't hide from the light,
shadows will come to lose their might.
Hold it down and hold it tight,
it proves to be the rarest sight.

From out to in, and in to out.
I've stuck inside a weeping gloom.
Heard from darkness is my shout,
I'm stuck inside the demon's room.
Caught in lies and kept in fear,
mired in a pool of doubt.
Even when you can get near,
I doubt that you can get me out.

You cannot save me from my plight.
I flail about and try to bite.
We never can get past our fright.
